CBA-ae. Lois Hurd, b. ca. 1754, Killingworth, Conn. (Esther 4, John 3, John 2, Wm.1). m. Aug. 14, 1771, Jeremiah Atwater, b. Nov. 10, 1744, son of John and Hannah (Thompson) Atwater. He lived at the corner of Chapel and Orange Streets, New Haven, Conn. He d. Oct. 1, 1835, aged 91. She d. July 23, 1824. John Atwater was the son of John and Elizabeth (Mix) Atwater; he son of John and Abigail Mansfield; he son of David Atwater and Damaris, dau. of Thomas Sayre of Southampton, Long Island.

The Atwater family has been traced six generations in England, back to (1) Thomas Atwater and wife Eliner, of Royton, Co. Kent; (2) John Atwater and Maryan. His will proved 1501; (3) Robert Atwater, will proved 1522; (4) Thomas Atwater and Johanna, his will proved 1547; (5) Christopher Atwater and Maryan, his will proved 1573; (6) John Atwater and Susan Narsin, he bapt. 1567. His widow adm. in 1636.
